For the past 19 years we have presented the Andy Statman Trio, with occasional guest artists, on Thursday evenings at 8 o’clock. Total attendance to date exceeds 26,000 but as the audience rarely numbers more than twenty five there are usually seats for all. At the invitation of the National Endowment for the Arts the trio performed at the National Mall in Washington D.C. this past Fourth-of-July weekend. In 2012 Andy was made a Fellow of the National Endowment for the Arts for his single-handed revival, starting in the 1970s, of Klezmer music.

Today there are over 4,000 Klezmer band around the world and all acknowledge Andy as their inspiration. Yet Klezmer is but one facet of his musical genius:  When he puts aside his clarinet and picks up his mandolin the audience is treated to world-famous Bluegrass and American Roots music. In 2011 Ricky Skaggs joined him in concert at the Synagogue and for one-and-a-half hours kept his eyes fixed on Andy’s flying fingers.
